CVSA Confirms 2027 Roadcheck for May 11–13 and Safe Driver Week for July 11–17

International Roadcheck

Inspectors можуть проводити North American Standard inspections driver credentials, record of duty status, medical qualification, seat belt, vehicle systems і cargo.

Operation Safe Driver Week

Official CVSA page називає speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, failure to wear a seat belt та інші unsafe actions; driver може отримати warning або citation. Навіть без campaign week 49 CFR 392.2 вимагає дотримуватися applicable state та local traffic laws.

Тому CDL UA вважає May Roadcheck і July Safe Driver Week підтвердженими official pages, а April brake date — reported, але ще не confirmed на відповідній CVSA page.

Перевірте CDL status через issuing state, medical certification, endorsements, ELD і current logs, registration, insurance, permits, IFTA credentials та shipping papers. Виконайте documented pre-trip для brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, coupling, emergency equipment і cargo securement; repair defects до dispatch. Carrier має audit driver qualification files, maintenance records і ELD transfer capability.

Ці campaign dates не змінюють eligibility для domiciled або non-domiciled CDL, U4U parole, TPS, visa, EAD чи work authorization. Водночас plastic CDL не замінює current state record, medical status або окремі immigration та employment documents.

Конкретний inspection level, enforcement action і state procedure залежать від facts та applicable law.

IN ENGLISH

Two official dates are now confirmed

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has updated its program pages: International Roadcheck will take place May 11–13, 2027, and Operation Safe Driver Week will run July 11–17, 2027. Roadcheck is a 72-hour North American inspection, enforcement and education initiative involving inspectors in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Safe Driver Week targets risky driving by both commercial- and passenger-vehicle drivers. This is an enforcement-campaign calendar, not a new CDL or immigration rule.

What International Roadcheck covers

CVSA describes Roadcheck as the largest targeted CMV enforcement program, with nearly 15 trucks and motorcoaches inspected on average every minute during the 72-hour period. Inspectors may conduct North American Standard inspections covering driver credentials, records of duty status, medical qualification, seat-belt use, vehicle systems and cargo. In 2026, inspectors completed 54,575 inspections; 81% of vehicles and 94.2% of drivers had no out-of-service violations. Official 2027 focus areas had not been announced as of November 4, so a carrier should not promote an unconfirmed campaign “focus.”

Operation Safe Driver Week focuses on behavior

During the July 11–17 campaign, law enforcement will look for risky behavior by commercial- and passenger-vehicle drivers. The official CVSA page identifies speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, failure to wear a seat belt and other unsafe actions; a driver may receive a warning or citation. A specific 2027 emphasis may be announced later. Even outside the campaign week, 49 CFR 392.2 requires compliance with applicable state and local traffic laws.

Brake Safety Week: check the official page before planning

Industry reporting dated November 3 listed Brake Safety Week for April 18–24, 2027, and the U.S. Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative for January 11–15. However, the official CVSA Brake Safety Campaigns page, checked November 4, still says 2027 brake dates will be posted at the end of the year. CDL UA therefore treats the May Roadcheck and July Safe Driver Week dates as confirmed on official program pages, while the April brake date is reported but not yet confirmed on the corresponding CVSA page. Check the live source before scheduling maintenance.

Campaign dates do not create inspection-free periods

Roadside inspections, traffic stops, weigh-station operations and carrier enforcement occur throughout the year. The campaign calendar signals a coordinated emphasis, not a safe harbor before May or after July. A driver should not postpone a repair, medical update, ELD correction or cargo-securement issue until “blitz week.” Under 49 CFR 396.13, before driving the driver must be satisfied that the vehicle is in safe operating condition and review the last vehicle inspection report when required.

Practical checklist for drivers and carriers

Verify CDL status through the issuing state, medical certification, endorsements, the ELD and current logs, registration, insurance, permits, IFTA credentials and shipping papers. Complete a documented pre-trip covering brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, coupling, emergency equipment and cargo securement, and repair defects before dispatch. A carrier should audit driver qualification files, maintenance records and ELD transfer capability. Keep the inspection report and supporting records: eligible inaccurate safety data may be challenged through DataQs, but DataQs does not cancel a citation, court deadline or out-of-service order.

What this means for Ukrainian and immigrant drivers

These campaign dates do not change eligibility for a domiciled or non-domiciled CDL, Uniting for Ukraine parole, Temporary Protected Status, a visa, an Employment Authorization Document or work authorization. A plastic CDL also does not replace the current state record, medical status or separate immigration and employment documents. A Ukrainian driver should learn the English names of key documents and defects in advance, keep the carrier safety contact available, answer lawful inspection questions truthfully and request a copy of the inspection report. An accent or nationality is not itself a safety violation.

Informational disclaimer

This article summarizes official CVSA pages and reputable reporting checked November 4, 2026. CVSA may later add focus areas, revise campaign pages or publish other 2027 dates. The specific inspection level, enforcement action and state procedure depend on the facts and applicable law. This is general information, not legal, immigration, mechanical or individualized compliance advice; check live agency sources before operating.
