Awards охоплюють Arkansas — 137; California — 100; Connecticut — 260; Georgia — 384 у двох projects; Iowa — 150; Illinois — 38; Minnesota — 63; North Carolina — 140; Nebraska — 120; Tennessee — 500; Texas — 405 у двох projects; Wisconsin — 106.
Georgia projects разом планують 384 spaces: 275 біля Port of Savannah і 109 на I-75 southbound. Texas projects планують 100 spaces у Fort Worth біля I-35W та 305 біля Los Indios Port of Entry.
Projects мають зменшити такі ризики та підтримати HOS compliance; деякі включають lighting, restrooms, security, real-time occupancy systems і weather refuge.
Parking
Перевіряйте current 511, state DOT, facility або navigation data безпосередньо перед поїздкою та майте backup location.
What USDOT announced
On October 14, USDOT and FMCSA announced approximately $200 million through FY 2026 INFRA Track 2 for 14 commercial-motor-vehicle parking projects in 12 states. The official fact sheets estimate a combined 2,403 new truck spaces. Space counts are estimates and may change during design, permitting and construction.
States and planned spaces
The awards cover Arkansas—137; California—100; Connecticut—260; Georgia—384 across two projects; Iowa—150; Illinois—38; Minnesota—63; North Carolina—140; Nebraska—120; Tennessee—500; Texas—405 across two projects; and Wisconsin—106. Corridors and locations include I-49, I-40, I-91, I-75, Savannah, I-80, I-57, I-94, Wilmington, I-24, I-35W, Los Indios and I-41.
Largest projects
The Tennessee network near I-40 and I-24 plans approximately 500 free, 24/7 spaces at five Pilot Travel Center locations. Two Georgia projects plan 384 spaces combined: 275 near the Port of Savannah and 109 on southbound I-75. The Texas projects plan 100 spaces in Fort Worth near I-35W and 305 near the Los Indios Port of Entry. Connecticut’s Enfield project on I-91 calls for up to 260 spaces.
Why this matters for safety and HOS
A shortage of lawful parking can consume available driving time and push drivers toward shoulders or ramps. The projects are intended to reduce those risks and support HOS compliance; some include lighting, restrooms, security, real-time occupancy systems and weather refuge. A grant award, however, does not change 49 CFR Part 395 or authorize a driver to exceed driving or on-duty limits.
The parking is not open yet
These are awards and project descriptions, not a single nationwide opening date. Some projects still require land acquisition, environmental review, design, permits, procurement or construction. Do not plan a trip based only on the announced space count. Check current 511, state DOT, facility or navigation data immediately before travel and keep a backup location.
Practical implications for Ukrainian drivers
For Ukrainian and immigrant drivers, the benefits are the same as for other CDL holders: more lawful rest options on key freight corridors after the projects are completed. Keep an adequate HOS buffer, do not wait until the final minutes of a driving window, do not assume an app shows live occupancy, and document communications with dispatch when a parking shortage changes the trip plan. The awards do not change CDL, visa, parole, TPS, EAD or work-authorization eligibility.
